Powder pressing (mainly referred to here as powder metallurgy) is the process of making various kinds of shaped parts and products from metallic powders (or mixtures of metallic and nonmetallic powders) as raw materials by pressing and sintering.

Granular materials have both liquid and solid dual characteristics, that is, the whole has a certain fluidity and the plastic of each particle itself, people is to use this characteristic to achieve the formation of powder, in order to obtain the required products.

Characteristics of powder pressing:

1) able to produce products that could not or would be difficult to manufacture by other methods. Materials with refractory, extremely hard and special properties can be made.

2) the utilization rate of materials is very high, close to 100%.

3) although it is possible to manufacture by other means, it is more economical to use powder metallurgy.

4) generally speaking, the price of metal powder is relatively high, the equipment and mold investment of powder metallurgy is relatively large, and the geometric shape of parts is limited to some extent. Therefore, powder metallurgy is suitable for mass production of parts.
