Metal injection moulding (MIM) was first developed in California in 1973. MIM is a new type of powder metallurgy moulding technology, which combines plastic injection moulding technology with powder metallurgy. Powder metallurgy injection moulding technology is similar to powder metallurgy technology. Firstly, solid powder and organic binder are evenly mixed together, plasticized by heating at 150 degrees, injected into the mould cavity by injection moulding equipment, then solidified. Then, the binder in the forming blank is removed by thermal decomposition. Finally, like powder metallurgy, precise parts are produced by sintering.
