Application Of MIM Parts In Auto

Germany's BASF company has made a great contribution to MIM turbocharger components. BASF company uses unique Catamold process to produce MIM turbocharger parts. The mechanical strength of MIM parts and precision casting samples were compared at room temperature. The results are shown in Table. This proves that excellent material properties can be obtained by Catamold process.

 

In China, Beijing University of Science and Technology (BUST) uses argon atomized K418 alloy powder as raw material, adding self-designed multi-component paraffin-based binder, and uses injection moulding technology to produce turbocharged turbines with complex shapes. 


Through subsequent optimization of hot isostatic pressing, heat treatment, compact turbines with uniform structure and composition, excellent mechanical properties and good surface finish are made out. It breaks through the key technical difficulties: complex shape turbocharged turbine die structure design, MIM parameters optimization, sintering densification and dimensional accuracy control. The comprehensive mechanical properties of the turbine are significantly improved than those of the casting turbine.
