China Steel Construction Society(SCS) Powder Metallurgy Branch issues MIM industry status report of 2018. MIM industry has advanced considerably. In 2018, MIM parts sales is 725,000,000USD, 67% of which, 486,000,000USD is from 5 companies. Report says 15 MIM companies annual turnover reach 6,200,000USD. Others are small factories.

Report says, at present in China(not include Taiwan), there are more than 130 MIM factories, 65 in Pearl River Delta, 35 in Yangtze River Delta, 20 in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong province, the rest in Hunan and other places.

In the fields of application, mobile phone parts are the biggest market for China MIM industry. The following is computer parts, wearable devices parts, auto parts, medical equipment parts, and electric tool parts etc..

The MIM materials(powder and fed stock) shipment is 6000--7000 tons. In 2018, 3000--3500 tons were imported. About 8 MIM factories annual capacity is over 100 tons. Meanwhile, 9 MIM fed stock factories annual capacity is 800--1000 tons.

In China MIM materials, 85% of them are stainless steel and low alloy steel, 10% is tungsten, 5% are others. In stainless steel, main material are 316L and 17-4PH.

Report forecasts that in short future, MIM materials will be diversified, including nickelless stainless steel, nonmagnetic alloy, aluminum alloy and high thermal conductivity alloy etc..
