In metal injection moulding (MIM) production, a more typical size range near 25 mm (1 inch) is (+0.125 mm (+0.005"inch) or a coefficient of variation (+0.5%). This is a general reflection technology, once tuned to the center in the production process, the average size required will change.
Some functions may be maintained at lower tolerances, but this is uncertain until tooling has been built and process capability studies have been completed. Smaller tolerances can also be achieved by finishing certain functions (MIM hybrid solutions).
