Excessive heating temperature not only causes austenite grains coarse, but also causes local oxidation or melting on grain boundaries, leading to grain boundary weakening, which is called overburning. The properties of steel deteriorated seriously after overburning and cracks happen during quenching. Overburnt tissues cannot be recovered and can only be scrapped. Therefore, overburning should be avoided in work.
