Although MIM is attracting more and more attention, its scale is still weak compared with traditional technology. So it has great potential for development. The new MIM industry needs a series of efforts, such as formulating industrial standards, speeding up industrialization, improving the quality of employees, developing equipment and getting more customized parts.

1) Multidirectional development of material system. MIM is an ideal near net shape technology through which parts can be formed economically but needs little or no subsequent processing after sintering. In the production of precision ceramics, it is mainly applied to carbides, cermets, inorganic non-metallic ceramics, oxide ceramics, intermetallic compounds and so on.

2) Diversification of binder and multi-way degreasing technology. Many binder systems, based on cellulose acetate, polyethylene glycol polymer, acrylic acid polymer and agar, have been developed and applied. Computer-aided control thermal degreasing technology, solvent degreasing technology, catalytic degreasing technology, freeze-drying technology and microwave-assisted drying technology are all used in the degreasing of binders.

3) More advanced and precise equipment. At present and in the future, the following research and development are the key points, including computer-aided degreasing equipment technology, injection machine by computer precision control and related on-line quality monitoring and control system. Also, the forming equipment, such as powder synchronous injection machine will make composite parts by using of double-simple injection machine with coordinated control.

4) The related industrial chain will be formed and cultivate intensively. Only by thoroughly understanding the technological and engineering capabilities, forming an ecological industrial chain, can we resist risks and accelerate development.
